Come hear author Yamile Saied Méndez talk about her journey as the granddaughter of immigrants in Argentina, to being born in a military dictatorship, and becoming an immigrant in the United States of America. Méndez will share how living in between worlds, languages, and cultures gave her the power to tell stories that transcend borders.
Yamile Saied Méndez is an Argentine American author. Her novel FURIA is a Reese’s Book Club selection and the 2021 inaugural Pura Belpré Young Adult gold medal winner. A Walter Dean Myers inaugural grant recipient, she’s also a VONA Workshop (Voices of our Nations) alumna and a graduate of the Vermont College of Fine Arts. She’s a founding member of Las Musas, a community for Latine authors.
